Dr. Joseph Martin Alanis, 77, lifelong resident of Denver Colorado recently re-located to Loganville GA, passed away after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease peacefully in his home on September 11, 2012 with his loving wife Linda at his side. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Lillian Alanis and sister Olga (Ode, wife of Jim) Kottenstette all of Denver. He is survived by his wife Linda, and devoted children, Amy (Marcus) Danneil, Jack (Kim), Ryan, Michael (Cori) Piascik, Jeffrey (Alicia) Piascik, grandchildren, Mackenzie, Wyatt, Sawyer, James, Christopher, Elly, and Addison along with numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was born in Denver Colorado January 1, 1935. He went to East High School in Denver graduating in 1953. He earned a BS degree from Washington and Lee University in Virginia and went on to Duke University School of Medicine graduating in 1961. After a brief time in the Air Force he returned to Denver to begin his medical practice as an Anesthesiologist in the metro-Denver area, primarily working at the Medical Center of Aurora until his retirement in 2002. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ivy Chapel at Fairmount Cemetery Denver Colorado on September 29, 2012 at10 am. Always the doctor and always thinking of mankind, Joe has generously donated his body to Duke University School of Medicine. Our family considers this donation to be the ultimate contribution an individual can make in helping to advance medical knowledge and we are extremely proud of Joe to have made this decision.
